I am.....

I usually stay away from politics in this blog, for obvious reasons, but I feel I must make this post to clear up a few things. Some of my views may surprise the casual observer and some may make perfect sense if you think about it.
I never hide or lie about my beliefs or what I think when it comes to politics.
On a popular mother's website I used to frequent, there was a fad to write a signature line for forum posts that outlined everything you are, your views, your philosophies, everything. I stopped using my signature line because I was attacked verbally by other mothers for the beliefs I stated in the line. I am also attacked on Fet because of the beliefs I do not hide. As I get to the points people attack, I will point them out.
This is the signature line I used, I will dissect every part of it for my readers, and the order things are written in is intentional:
"I am: Mamma to a Little Cowboy who has roped my heart, devoted wife to a grown Cowboy, libertarian-leaning conservative, surrendered wife, polyamorist, Old Guard, High Protocol, collar wearing, M/s, deferring to my Husband, head covering skirt wearing, REAL feminist, never emasculating my Husband, proud of my femininity, LADY."

What is so bad about that? Yes, on the website, it is written in red and blue text, changing colors at every comma. I, honestly, don't see the reason for being attacked over this. Lets dissect the statement, shall we?

The first part is a given. No, it's not a racial statement or an insult or anything else to call Mini and Husband cowboys. It's what they both are. Mini roped my heart and I don't think anyone can argue my devotion to Husband.
Next?
Libertarian-leaning conservative? You have an issue with this? You, who supports gay marriage? You, who cries "Keep the government out of my uterus," in your fervent cries to keep abortion legal? My question is, WHY AREN'T YOU? I don't want the government anywhere near my bedroom, my playroom, my dungeon, or anywhere else. I don't need to get written consent for fear of legal action from my Husband every time we play, and He does not either. What happens behind the proverbial bedroom door is none of the government's business. If I want to beg Husband to flog my with our 7 pound leather flogger until I am a puddle of girl goo at His feet, that is our business and the government has no place there.
Yes, I am a surrendered wife. Things were much more peaceful in the home before women tried to demand the same status in the home as the bread-winner head of household husband. It works for us.
Polyamorist. Yup, I make no secret about this. Another reason I think the government has no place in my private life. If Husband wants to have 2 or 3 women at one time, and all of us consent, why should the government be involved? The people in committed, consensual multi-partner relationships are vilified and insulted as greedy or neglectful, yet those who openly cheat on their spouse are glorified, those who have multiple one night stands are "playas" or almost god-like figures in society. Why is cheating or one night standing glorified yet people who have committed multi-partner relationships vilified? It's just another reason big government should be expelled from the private lives of citizens.
Old Guard. This is a respect based, earn your place in the hierarchy community. Why should a new person in the community who has not proven themselves be afforded the same luxuries and respect as someone who has been around and spent time learning the ways of things? Why should some new comer have the same respect and admiration as someone who has been around a while simply for being there?
High Protocol, is that what you have an issue with? I do things a specific way, I speak a specific way, and it works for us. Those of you who say I am wrong, oppressed, and a doormat before you even know what makes us what we are, aren't you the same ones who say the government has no business in the private relationships of citizens? But it's ok for you to butt in when you know nothing of the relationship you are insulting besides 50 Shades of Gray?
My collar is an outward sign of my status in this lifestyle. It means more to me than your wedding band means to you. My collar hurts no one, and it means a great deal to me. So, why does my steel band collar bother you more than the fact that your 13 year old daughter wears almost nothing when she goes to the mall?
M/s.... This one people have issues with. Master/slave relationships are not for everyone. It takes a specific type of person to revel in slavehood, to find that true freedom in slavehood. I have found it and have fully submitted all power in our relationship to my Husband. Women have been doing it for centuries. Did you know fewer M/s based relationships end in divorce, especially for infidelity, than the modern, society approved, vanilla marriages? But I bet you don't want to hear that. And, notice, I said slavehood, not slavery. Slavehood is consensual surrendering of all power, slavery is forced.
Deferring to my Husband? Damn right, He is the bread winner, head of household, why shouldn't I defer to His opinions?
Head covering skirt wearing. This is my choice. I like thinking that something so female, so sensual, so intimate as my hair is only fully seen by my Husband. That moment when, after a long day, I remove the covering, that look shows me He is appreciative of the gesture. The intimate moment when He removes my cover, is just amazing to me, and so special between us. The skirts are, again, my choice and a deeply personal choice.
REAL feminist? Yup. The core of feminism is a woman's right to make up her own mind. I stand by that right, and tell women they have that right just as much as I do. I CHOSE to live the way I do, and every woman should be able to make that choice herself. Real feminism is nothing like the modern version.
Oh, I get it, you have an issue with the never emasculating my husband part? I fell in love with Him as He was when we met. Why would I want to insult Him by browbeating Him and putting Him down all the time? Why? He is a male, He thinks like a male, if I wanted to marry someone who thought like me, like a woman, I would have married a woman.
Yes, I am proud, I am a lady, and I carry myself as such. I act as such, and I treat others as a lady should. I don't cuss in general public, I don't dress like a "hoochie," I don't raise my voice in public, I carry myself with grace and pride, if that offends you, too bad. To those who do not agree with me, that is ok, that is your right, just as feeling this way is my right. It is also my right to walk away and ignore you if you insult and put me down.

Libertarian and Poly?

I know I know the title seems like an oxymoron but think about it a second.
The key points of libertarianism is less government involvement in private lives, liberty, freedom. I'm talking real libertarianism, not an establishment political party.
Real libertarians do not want to dictate the actions of others, they do not want to push their beliefs on other people, they do not really care, nor want to know, what goes on in the private bedrooms of people, and surely would not legislate whom you can legally marry, or how many consenting adults could be married. (I am talking the legal form of marriage, not the faith based forms of Matrimony, since a religious institution has different rules)
Many people hear libertarian and think of the establishment conservative beliefs, the ones that are speaking out against same sex marriage and plural relationships. While, yes, we are most closely related to conservatives on the political scale, we take the distance between policy and private lives further and want less government involvement in daily lives.
As a libertarian, I feel the government has no place in telling you who you can and can not love, male, female, or other; who you can and can not marry, again, male, female or other; nor how many people you can commit your life to at one time. If all members of a relationship are consenting adults, why should it matter to whom they are choosing to commit themselves or how many people at once?
Why should the government dictate through policy if the three members of my Triad can commit to each other for life? Why should they say that I wouldn't be able to commit myself to a woman for life?
Most people think that, as a polyamorous person, or a person who leans more towards one side of human sexuality or another, or a person with a proclivity towards kink, they should be a liberal, because it just sounds like a policy structure that would welcome their own sexual preferences. But, going by the definition of liberal, the political side would want to legislate your most private acts. Libertarians, on the other hand, don't really care, and want to keep government out of private lives and bedrooms.
Just some food for thought this rainy Friday night.
